Tarsha Patterson, MS  (she/her)

Psychological Associate

As a Psychological Associate, my biggest priority is creating a space where you can feel safe, seen, and supported—just as you are. I know how important it is to have a space where you don’t have to pretend or filter yourself, and I aim to be the kind of therapist who meets you with empathy, honesty, and zero judgment.

Therapy, to me, is a collaborative journey. I work alongside you to set goals, identify your strengths, and explore whatever’s showing up in your life. I use a variety of evidence-based approaches—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)—but I always tailor my approach to fit you. No two people are the same, and I truly believe that your story deserves a personalized approach.

I’m especially interested in how our past—especially our childhood experiences—shapes our present. Together, we might explore those early influences and how they connect to the patterns, thoughts, or feelings you're working through now. I also take a holistic view of mental health, knowing that our environment, culture, relationships, and community all play a huge role in our wellbeing. I bring cultural awareness and humility into my work, honoring the full complexity of who you are.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients—homeless Veterans, individuals recovering from addiction, children and teens, and families navigating life’s challenges. I’m also a mom, so I understand firsthand the ups and downs of parenting. As a parent of minority children and as a woman, I relate to the layered experiences that come with identity, gender, race, and the roles we’re often asked to juggle.

Advocacy and inclusion are deeply important to me. I’ve served on various Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) boards and committees, and even helped create the Graduate DEI Committee at the University of Alabama. Giving back to my community—through work with mental health organizations, child protection programs, and elder support services—has been a true honor.

I earned my Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Auburn University at Montgomery (where I had the joy of serving as Graduation Grand Marshal), and a second Master’s in Women and Race Studies from the University of Alabama. I’m proud to be a Ronald E. McNair Graduate Fellow and one of the 2021 SEC Emerging Scholars.

Whether you’re navigating stress, healing from trauma, or just trying to figure things out—I’m here to walk alongside you. My goal is to help you feel grounded, empowered, and more connected to yourself.

Tarsha joined Weekend Therapy in October 2023 and functions as a Psychological Associate under the supervision of Dr. Nicholas Bennett.
