Nicholas K. Bennett, PsyD  (he/him)

Clinical/Forensic Psychologist

Hi! I'm Dr. Bennett, a Licensed Psychologist with a focus on forensic psychology and psychological assessment. I’m licensed in California, Colorado, and West Virginia, and I spend most of my time conducting in-depth evaluations to assign diagnoses, assess how people are functioning, and guide treatment planning in both clinical and legal settings.

In my forensic work, I’ve done everything from merit evaluations in sexual abuse litigation and assessments for Social Security Disability claimants to evaluations for employees filing workers’ compensation claims. A big part of that work is determining not just the diagnosis, but also what caused the psychological injury. I also have a lot of experience doing pre-surgical psychological evaluations, including for people pursuing gender affirmation procedures and bariatric (weight loss) surgeries.

I provide neuropsychological and cognitive testing as well, using tools like the WAIS-IV, WISC-V, WMS-IV, Trail Making Test, C-TONI-2, and WRAT5. Additionally, personality inventories such as the MMPI-2 and MCMI-IV are utilized to assess personality traits, emotional states, and behavioral patterns. These assessments help clarify diagnoses and shape tailored treatment recommendations.

While my primary focus is assessment, I also offer a limited amount of clinical therapy using CBT, Clinical Hypnotherapy, and EMDR, with a special focus on supporting LGBTQ+ clients and Veterans.

I earned my Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) from California Southern University, completed my post-doc at Russian River Counselors in Monte Rio, California, and Parkhurst Associates Mental Health Services in Washington, D.C., and went on to receive advanced training and supervision in both forensic and neuropsychology through work with various clinical and legal agencies.

My goal is to bring both clinical insight and a strong understanding of the legal system to every evaluation I do—making sure my assessments are clear, evidence-based, and useful for the people and systems relying on them.
