Brannon La Force, MS (he/him)
Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor
Hi, I’m Brannon La Force, and I’ve been working in the counseling field for over 36 years. I’m based in Dallas, Texas, but I run a virtual private practice where I see clients in Alabama, California, Florida, Kansas, Oregon, Texas, and Virginia. Over the years, so much has changed in the world of mental health, but one thing has always stayed the same for me: my deep commitment to helping people through life’s toughest challenges with genuine care and compassion.
I’ve had the privilege of working in a wide variety of settings, including a forensic hospital, a sex offender treatment program, and a maximum-security mental health prison. I’ve also treated intellectually disadvantaged adults in Australia, supported genocide survivors in Rwanda, counseled sailors in the U.S. Navy while in Bahrain, and walked alongside clients in crisis in hospital emergency rooms and inpatient psychiatric units. While I’ve worked in many different environments, most of my career has been spent in private practice, which is where I feel most connected to people’s stories and journeys.
I specialize in working with personality disorders, trauma, and relationship issues, but I’ve also helped clients with anxiety, depression, addiction, PTSD, ADHD, OCD, and many other challenges. I work with pre-teens, teens, adults, families, seniors, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Whoever you are, wherever you are in life, I strive to provide a safe, supportive space where you can explore your emotions, heal, and build healthier relationships with yourself and others.
In therapy, I take an integrative approach. That means I draw from different methods—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy, Family/Marital Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, coaching, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), and CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy)—to find what works best for you. Every person is different, and I believe therapy should fit you, not the other way around.
Education is also a big part of who I am. I earned my bachelor’s degree in History from Asbury University and my master’s degree in Counseling from the University of South Alabama. I’ve also completed my coursework and research for a PhD in Clinical and Health Psychology from Walden University (I’m ABD—all but dissertation). Lifelong learning has always been important to me, and it shapes the way I grow as a counselor.
Outside of counseling, I’m the father of three wonderful adult children—two daughters who followed me into the therapy field and a son who became a chemist—and I’m also a proud grandfather to three grandchildren. I love traveling (I’ve visited 43 states and 35 countries), spending time with my grandson, enjoying good seafood, and cheering for Crimson Tide football. I even keep a small apartment in the island kingdom of Bahrain, one of the many places my work and adventures have taken me.
If you’re looking for someone who truly cares, who provides a safe and welcoming environment, and who brings a wealth of experience to help you navigate whatever life throws your way, I’d be honored to walk alongside you on your journey.
